Classical composer, conductor, musician

CLASSICAL COMPOSITION
Ferris studies with Jordan Nelson and is a participant in the LA Phil Composer Fellowship Program. He also attends the Sunset ChamberFest program every summer. Ferris' compositions work to combine his scientific interests with creativity, creating a balance between logical form and pure artistry.
CONDUCTING
A student of Maxim Eshkenazy and David Cubek, Ferris has worked to hone his physical conducting skills as well as his ability to understand and interpret music. He has experience conducting the Colburn Youth Orchestra in rehearsal of one of his own pieces in addition to working with smaller ensembles.


INSTRUMENTAL PERFORMANCE
Ferris' skills also include musical performance. He is a violinist and violist who studies with Elizabeth Hedman and Andrew Picken, respectively. Ferris also has a passion for ensemble work and is a participant in the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Pasadena Conservatory Chamber Program.
